The Celebrations or “Utsav” artwork is a fantastical celebration led by joyous animals in Indian ceremonial regalia. Elephants, horses, deer and the camel are seen prancing among a melange of floating flowers: hibiscus which reflects devotion and purity, the revered "padma" or lotus, the national flower of India which stands for enlightenment and rebirth, and the beautiful desert rose which symbolizes love.In the desert state of Rajasthan it is common to involve the camel in festivities. The horse symbolizes vitality and life force and is a fixture of the Indian wedding providing a vehicle for the energetic entry of the groom into the ceremony.
Elephants are mythic creatures and exude great wisdom, friendship and loyalty.
Dainty dancing deer are also present - it is said that the goddess Saraswati, who epitomizes learning, takes the form of a red deer by the name of Rohit. A golden deer also plays an important role in the epic Ramayana.
The color palette of blue, green, pink, orange and yellow is a nod
to the bounty of nature infused with the glory of Indian traditions.
