PALACE FRESCO

The Palace Fresco Mini Notebook is inspired by the magnificent interiors of the 16th-century Samode Palace and the City Palace in Jaipur. 

Samode Palace was originally built as a sandstone fort and later transformed into a palace by the princely ruler Rawal Berisal. Centuries later, his descendant Rawal Sheo Singh added the ornate Durbar Hall, whose hand-painted frescoes and luminous blue interiors reflect the artistry of both Mughal and Rajput traditions.

In Jaipur’s City Palace, the Maharaja still resides today. On the fifth floor of the Chandra Mahal lies the celebrated Chhavi Niwas, a vibrant blue-and-white chamber from which the ladies of the palace once enjoyed cooling monsoon breezes and sweeping views of the city.

“Gilli” — pronounced Jeeli — captures the burst of joy we feel when we encounter beautiful objects that delight the senses and lift the spirit.
